As President of the Retail Group at Cablevision (a $4.3 billion communications company), Jeff Yapp directed the retail division, the consumer electronics chain called The Wiz, and the theatrical distributor called Clearview Cinemas. Cablevision has a majority interest in Rainbow Media Group, owns Madison Square Gardens and Radio City Music Hall, the NY Knicks, the NY Rangers, and national cable networks including American Movie Classics (AMC), Bravo, The Independent Film Channel (IFC), WE: Women’s Entertainment, MuchMusic USA, and numerous Fox Sports Net channels. Yapp also led retail distribution of the company’s high-speed digital internet and phone service and digital video-on-demand product.
Restructured The Wiz’s 41 locations in NY, NJ, and CT, reducing operating losses from $112 million in 2001 to a breakeven run rate in Q4 2002.
Grew total revenue 15.8% for Clearview Cinemas, and improved theatre level cashflow by 58.7%. Raised EBITDA by 191% and EBITDA margins from 3.7% to 9.3%, positioning chain for lucrative sale.
Redirected customer acquisition programs for Voom High Definition Satellite Service, slashing cost of acquisition from over $10K to $78.
